Parking & Public Transit
Parking on campus is limited so each department has developed guidelines on employee parking eligibility. Your Department Parking and Transportation Coordinator Listing will assist you in getting a permit or finding an alternative parking option. Permit costs are based on a sliding scale relative to your annual salary and can be automatically deducted from your paycheck. The Parking Services Division provides all parking services to the University community.
For faculty who are not given a parking permit allocation or wish to choose an alternate mode of transportation, several resources provide more information on available transportation options:
- Chapel Hill Transit has several bus lines that service campus and the surrounding community, as well as several Park and Ride Services. Buses are free to the public.
- Commuter Alternative Program (CAP) promotes sustainable travel options for UNC employees and offers a range of options such as free bus fare for regular commuters or carpool incentives.
- Triangle Transit services Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill areas by offering several park and ride locations in and around the Triangle.
- UNC Bike Share is operated by Gotcha Bike and offers free and paid memberships for bike rentals on campus.
