The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill celebrates the laying of Old EastÂ’s cornerstone 223 years ago marking the founding of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the reason University Day is celebrated each year. The annual commemorative ceremony was held in Memorial Hall October 11, 2016.
